What is the cost of ecommerce website development?

Recommended Posts

Yes, indeed, the cost of e-commerce development depends on many factors. Here are the basic ones:

The number of features and the complexity of their realization

The country where the development center will be based in.

Whether you will use an individual design, design template or will require responsive design.

Technical issues

The number of pages

The number of future updates

Usually, the time estimation for the development of an e-commerce store is from 300 to 700+ hours. As I've mentioned, the developments costs vary from country to country.

The hourly rate for developers in Asia 20-45 USD, in Eastern Europe 25-70, in North America 100-150.

Let's consider the average developers' rate of 40 USD, and you'll get your total, which is around $12000 - $28000+.

Your business and need are more important because after you are included inside a specific eco-system.

Design: Your site needs to look great, work well and be unique.

Content: Without engaging content, your site is just a beautiful, but hollow, shell.

Maintenance: Server hosting, domain names, and backups will keep your site online.

Management: Someone has to keep your site content and software up to date after launch.

Price can go up to 10k

@MattJr,

Design: Your site needs to look great,

I am not sure about that, just a correct design is enough, I know website works very well witthout a big investment.

But, for me, not a programmer, beginner, I have a decision to make, be independent and grow with my website, or to be dependent and use a tool as Shopify (example) and miss evolution.
There is a big difference, approach and cost.
Content, maintenance, evolution, investment adapted are important.
